KASNEB QUALIFICATIONS

CERTIFICATE QUALIFICATION

Kasneb offers a certificate in Accounting and Management Skills program that imparts knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to prepare basic accounts and financial statements for a small enterprise or non-complex environment and apply basic management and marketing skills in business.

Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS)

  • Entry Requirement: A minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D or a vocational certificate.
  • Course Structure: CAMS is a two-level program, with each level designed for approximately six months of study, resulting in a total program duration of one year.
  • Target Audience: This course is designed for individuals seeking to qualify for entry-level accounting and management positions.

DIPLOMA QUALIFICATIONS

Kasneb currently administers four diploma programmes. The diploma programmes are administered in two levels, with each level requiring an average of one year, thus a total of two years. The qualifications can currently be pursued through a tuition based programme or privately.

Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD)

Entry Requirement:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of at least grade C- (C Minus) or equivalent qualifications.
  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination grade D.
  • Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS).
  • Any other KASNEB technician or diploma examination certificate.

Course Structure:

  • The ATD program is structured into three levels.
  • Each level contains several examination papers covering various accounting and related subjects.
  • The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of practical accounting skills.

Target Audience:

  • Individuals seeking to work in middle-level accounting positions.
  • Those aiming to provide technical support in accounting, auditing, and taxation.
  • People wanting to gain practical accounting skills for roles in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Kasneb currently administers six professional courses. The professional courses are administered at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Each level requires an average of one year, though candidates are advised to provide for an additional one year to meet requirements for internship/practical experience

The minimum entry requirement for professional courses is KCSE mean grade of C+

Certified Public Accountants (CPA)

  • Entry Requirement:
    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with a minimum aggregate grade of C+ (C Plus) or equivalent.
    • A degree from a recognized university.
    • Other qualifications as approved KASNEB.
  • Course Structure:
    • The CPA program is structured into three levels: Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced.
    • Each level consists of several examination papers covering a wide range of accounting, finance, and related subjects, including:
      • Financial Accounting

      • Finance
      • Law
      • Governance
    • The structure is designed to provide a progressive and comprehensive understanding of professional accounting.
